We are excited to announce that the theme for the 2023 festival is "Let's Get Loud!"
This theme is inspired by the words of Dr. Katherine Hayhoe, a renowned climate scientist who has said that the most important thing we can do to fight climate change is to talk about it. We believe that by raising our voices and spreading awareness about the urgent need to address the climate crisis, we can discuss actions-based solutions, and create real and lasting change.
According to data from the Yale Program on Climate Communication, 70% of people in the United States believe that the climate is changing. However, despite this belief, 66% of people never talk about it. This is both a promising and troubling insight into our collective beliefs and actions.
It is promising that the majority of people in the United States recognize the reality of climate change. However, it is troubling that despite this recognition, so few of us are willing to discuss it. And if we don’t discuss it, how can we act on it?
This is where "Let's Get Loud!" comes in. We want to encourage everyone—including you—to join us, speak up, and get loud about climate change. Whether it's through social media, in-person conversations, or writing letters to your representatives, it is crucial that we all take action to raise awareness and advocate for climate action.
At the 2023 One Earth Film Festival, we will be featuring films and events that highlight the importance of speaking out and taking action on climate change. We will also be hosting panels and workshops with experts in the field, giving attendees the opportunity to learn more about the issues and get involved in the fight for a sustainable future.
We are excited to share more about what the 2023 One Earth Film Festival has in store, and we hope you will join us in "Getting Loud" about climate change.
