Field Museum to host climate forum in response to U.S. withdrawal from Paris Treaty

What: A gathering at The Field Museum for Chicago’s civic leaders and community members to discuss ways to take action against climate change despite U.S. plans to withdraw from the Paris Climate Change Agreement. The Forum will mark the launch of a Chicago Agreement on Climate and Community, a commitment by the city’s neighborhoods, institutions, and organizations to curb climate change. The event will feature speakers and musical performances.

When: Sunday, Dec. 3, 6-9 p.m., including the program and reception.

Where: The Field Museum, 1400 S. Lake Shore Drive, Chicago, in Stanley Field Hall.

Who: Open to the public, as well as over 500 civic representatives and community leaders.

More info: The day after this event, the North American Climate Summit will convene in Chicago. Mayors from around the world will discuss municipal commitments to the Paris Agreement to curb climate change. Sunday night’s Chicago Community Climate Forum will focus on building strong communities and taking action on climate solutions in the Chicago region.

The Forum will mark the launch of a Chicago Agreement on Climate and Community, a set of principles and commitments to advance collective impact through specific climate actions.

The event is planned by 50 Chicago region community and environmental organizations, including the Environmental Law & Policy Center, One Earth Film Festival, the Institute of Cultural Affairs, Faith in Place, The Nature Conservancy, the Illinois Green Alliance, and more.
